An Introduction to IELTS

IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is used as the language of communication.
The exam consists of reading, writing, speaking and listening modules. You will receive a separate score for each module and an overall score.
Many universities ask for a particular IELTS score as an entry requirement.
Scores range from 1-9 but universities generally require a score of about 6.5.
Preparing for IELTS will also help you develop the language and essay writing skills which you will need as a university student.
