As a leader of Greenwich Council, I am delighted that the Institute of International Education in London(IIEL) is locating to the Borough Greenwich at Charlton House.
We are very proud that IIEL wich to be sited in Maritime Greenwich. We boast a rich history and the home to the prime Merdian-longitude0 at the Royal Observatory, the spot from where world time, Greenwich Mean Time, was first calculated.

There is no doubt that students and teachers will benefit from this partnership, as there will be many opportunities for Japanese students to learn about the local history and culture. We also look forward to IIEL, developing strong links with our schools so that Greenwich students will benefit from learning the Japanese language and find out more about the Japanese culture.

Japanese is a language that many people wich to learn. It is fitting that Charlton House will become the seat of learning because when the House was originally built in 1607; it was for the purpose of the tutelage of the Prince of Wales, eldest son of James I.

I trust that the school's stay in Greenwich will be a long and worthwhile one. Certainly, Charlton House with its beautiful grounds will provide the perfect setting and desirable environment for the school to flourish.
